Description

ARTIFACT:

This is a Model 1836 United States military pistol converted from flintlock to percussion. The pistol was manufactured by Asa Waters of Milbury, Mississippi. It is a .54 calibre smoothbore pistol, and was the last flintlock gun manufactured for the United States military. Most of the Model 1836s ended up altered.

VINTAGE:

Circa 1839 (dated plate).

SIZE:

Approximately 14-1/2" in length and " in height; barrel length: 8-7/16"; tang: 1-1/2"; lockplate: 4-1/2".

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Steel, wood, brass.
