This is a beautiful, minty example of a circa 1920s or early 1930s United States Internal Revenue Service (IRS) agent badge. The IRS, initially named the Bureau of Internal Revenue, was necessitated from the Civil War era concept of income tax. The badge shows the agent's initials, J.R.T., at the bottom in enamel.
VINTAGE:Circa 1920s or early 1930s.
SIZE:Approximately 2-5/16" in height and 1-1/2" in width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Gilt brass, enamel.
ATTACHMENT:Vertical kick pin with drop-in locking swivel catch.
MARKINGS:None.
