ARTIFACT:
Late Vietnam era USO Show Jungle Jacket, dated 1968. The Rip Stop, cotton wind-resistant jacket features a name tag that reads: "KINCAID" and another tag that reads: "USO" in black embroidered lettering on heavy canvas. The button-up jacket is poplin, olive green Army Shade 107, with four front pockets featuring flap and button closures and adjustable cuffs also with button closures. This Jungle Jacket may be that of Coleen Kincaid who traveled with an all-girl music group called The Original Golddiggers on Bob Hope's USO Christmas Tours during the Vietnam War. Approximately Armpit to armpit: 23"; Shoulder to shoulder (across back): 16-1/2"; Collar to hem: 21"; Shoulder to cuff: 23-1/2".
MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION:
Rip Stop, wind resistant cotton, resin button, black thread, heavy canvas
ATTACHMENT:
Button-up front closure, flap and double button closure pockets, button cuffs
MARKINGS:
"SMALL – REGULAR, HEIGHT: FROM 67 – 71 IN., CHEST: FROM 33 TO 37 IN., STOCK NO. 8415-01-084-1643, NATO SIZE: 7080/8494", "COAT, MAN'S COTTON WIND RESISTANT RIP STOP POPLIN OLIVE GREEN ARMY SHADE 107 DSA 100-68-C-0833 ETOWAH INDUSTRIES, INC. INSTRUCTION LABEL: COAT, MAN'S COMBAT TROPICAL", "1. Wear as outer garment in tropical areas. 2. Wear outside of trousers. 3. Front closure can be opened for ventilation and should be closed for protection against insets. 4. Sleeves are provided with adjustable cuffs to permit sleeve to be rolled up. 5. A drain hole is provided at the bottom of each pocket to allow water to drain out. 6. Coat can be hand laundered. Make sure all soap is thoroughly rinsed out. 7. Coat is made longer than normal in order that Load Carrying Equipment does not cover pockets."
