ARTIFACT: Late 1970's New York City Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA) hard hat for Power Infrastructure Employee in excellent condition. The white hard hat features the NYC MTA emblem on either side. The adhesive disc is silver with a large "M" in the center and around it reads: "NEW YORK CITY TRANSIT". The front of the hard hat reads: "POWER" vertical in large black letters and the reverse features a red reflective strip. The inside of the hat is named to: "INDEN" handwritten in black ink. The hardhat came along with other worker items belonging to Inden, see links below. The underside of the visor features maker marks and specs: "MODEL B X 21" and the inside features a gray adjustable suspension band made of plastic and lined along the forehead area with gray leather. Hard hats vary in colors and designs, often white color denotes a manager, foreman, or supervisor. Stickers are often used as labels on hard hats, similar to this example, marker and paints have been known to degrade the plastic.

VINTAGE: Circa late 1970's

SIZE: Approximately: 11 ¾" front to back; 8 ¾" ear to ear; 6 ½" tall; fully adjustable suspension band.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Rigid plastic, leather, ribbon, foil sticker, marker

ATTACHMENT: Adjustable suspension band.

MARKINGS: "MODEL B X 21", "AO", "CLASS A & B ANSI 289.1 1969 ANSI 289.2 1971 GGG-H-1426 DCIS 514-5-6"; "INDEN" handwritten on inside.
