Description

ARTIFACT:

This is a circa late 1940s fireman's dress visor hat from the Durham, New Hampshire Fire Department. The hat is a size 6-3/4 and is in excellent condition. It bears a department badge and has a maker's mark in the lining of the hat.

VINTAGE:

Circa late 1940s.

SIZE:

Size tag: 6-3/4.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Wool, leather, silk, chromed brass, straw behind leather liner, celluloid.

ATTACHMENT:

Chin strap; single screw post with disc backing on badge.

MARKINGS:

6 ??; Basch Cap Co. Uniform Caps 658 Washington Street Boston, Mass.
