Description
This is a Japanese "Chinese Incident" medal which hangs from a beautiful striped ribbon. The "Chinese Incident" occurred in 1937 and is widely seen as the start of the Second Sino-Japanese War, which ended with the Japanese surrender in 194The front of the medallion shows an eagle astride two crossed flags with a flower above. The reverse shows a mountain range peeking out from a cloud cover with rolling waves at its base.
VINTAGE:Circa late 1930's.
SIZE:About 1-7/16" in width by 3-3/16" in height.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Copper with silk ribbon.
ATTACHMENT:Hook with "U" hasp.
