Description
ARTIFACT: This is an incredibly Rare 1930's RCMP Royal Canadian Mounted Police Detective Service Badge, the closest One Can Get to a such a thing as a "Canadian FBI Badge".
History of The Royal Canadian Mounted Police: RCMP was originally established as the North-West Mounted Police (NWMP) on May 23, 1873, when Parliament passed an act to create it. The Order-in-Council to establish the NWMP was signed on August 30, 1873. The NWMP was renamed the RCMP on February 1, 1920, after absorbing the Dominion Police. As a result, Colonel Charles Frederick Hamilton - the RCMP's first intelligence officer - was dispatched to Washington, D.C., in September 1919. His mission was to initiate a funnel of information sharing and act as an on-site liaison with U.S. agencies, including the Bureau of Investigation, as the FBI was then known.
