Description
This is a circa 1910s numbered member lapel pin for the International Concatenated Order of Hoo-Hoo Inc. Formed in 1892 by some light-hearted businessmen involved in the forestry products industry, the group gave its CEO a title borrowed from the name of a fictional Lewis Carroll character: Snark. The pin is enameled in black and white and shows a black cat with its back arched. The pin was made by Stief Company of Philadelphia.
VINTAGE:Circa 1910s.
SIZE:Approximately 3/4" in diameter.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Gilt brass with enamel.
ATTACHMENT:Single screw post with disc backing, stabilization teeth.
MARKINGS:STIEF CO. 19174 on reverse of pin; 40 on backing.

CONDITION:7+ (Very Fine+): The pin has some light abrasions and small spots of tarnish along edge.
