Description
This is a beautiful and huge 1920s police badge from Stoneham, Massachusetts. This badge was used into the early 1930s, which is indicated by the 1930s period repair to the pin and re-plating in "blue" 1930s chrome. All of the wording and numbering on this badge is hand-engraved (note serifs on lettering and off-center number. There is a nice ALLEN Brothers maker's plate is soldered to the back near the forked tension locking catch. The badge has a handsome filigreed circle with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts seal at center. The badge is over 3 inches in height and is numbered 2A wonderful badge!
VINTAGE:Circa 1920s.
SIZE:Approximately 3-3/16" in height and 2-1/8" in width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Chromed nickel with black paint details.
ATTACHMENT:Vertical kick pin with forked tension locking catch.
MARKINGS:28 on front; ALLEN BROS 17 CORNHILL BOSTON on reverse.
