Description

ARTIFACT:

Great WWII United States Army Air Forces 79th Fighter Group Christmas Card, most likely from 1944 and possibly printed in Italy. The front of the card depicts a winged star 'shining down' upon the words: "CHRISTMAS GREETINGS from the 79 FIGHTER GROUP". The inside left features the insignia of the 79th Fighter Group insignia, an Egyptian panel with a bird, snake, sun and ankh over the words "The Falcons Flying Skulls Ð Comanches Ð Mosquitos(sic)". The inside right reads: "May the holy spirit of Christmas Shine down on earth anew And the day of tidings most joyous Bring blessed peace to you!" and it is signed: "Merry Christmas + Happy New Year Raymond"
