ARTIFACT:
Great vintage 1968 I. W. Harper Bourbon ‘Bowing Man’ decanter with original box. The bowing man, bent slightly forward and giving a casual salute with one hand and holding a cane in the other is symbolic of the company. The base of the figurine reads: “I. W. HARPER” in embossed, painted detail and the reverse shows a distiller’s stamp that reads: “BOTTLED BY I. W. HARPER DISTILLING CO. LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY KENTUCKY STRAIGHT BOURBON WHISKY 86 PROOF 4/5 QUART 150 MONTHS OLD”. There is a nice US tax stamp on the top hat and the underside of the base shows a maker’s mark that reads: “ORIGINAL MOLD MADE IN 1955 FIGURE MADE IN PORTUGAL 1968”. The original box is also in nice condition showing a picture of the figurine, information about the distillery, decanter, and age of spirit.
