Great Vintage 1920's Rockingham Hotel Portsmouth, NH Room Key & Fob. Room #1

ARTIFACT: Great vintage 1920’s Rockingham Hotel Portsmouth, New Hampshire room key and fob for room #1. The stamped, leather fob reads: “ROCKINGHAM HOTEL PORTSMOUTH N.H.” and above displays a hand-drawn number “1”. The reverse is stamped with a maker’s mark that reads: “JOHN ROBBINS MFG. CO. MANUFACTURERS 7 HAVERHILL ST. BOSTON, MASS.” And below: “IF CARRIED AWAY RETURN UNSEALED WE GUARANTEE POSTAGE”. The fob is attached to a steel ‘skeleton’ key.

SIZE: Approximately Fob: 4” x 5-/8” (top), 1-3/8” (bottom); Key: 3” x 3/4”

CONSTRUCTION/MATERIALS: Stamped leather, ink, steel

ATTACHMENT: Steel loop/ring to attach key to fob

CONDITION: 7+ (Very Fine+): The fob shows moderate wear, water spots on reverse, the leather has stiffened over time, the key shows oxidation, overall very fine condition.
