Description
This is a salty World War II United States Army M1 helmet. The helmet has fixed bales (first type rectangular retaining washers on the liner webbing), used before the later swivel bales, and stitched canvas straps. It also has a leather chin strap tucked up inside liner. Also inside the liner there is a white splash with the original GI's serial number (S 1497). Great been there look!
VINTAGE:Circa World War II.
SIZE:Approximately 6-1/2" in height; head opening: 9" by 8-1/8".
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Painted steel, plated brass, leather, webbed cotton.
ATTACHMENT:Canvas chin straps, leather chin strap.
MARKINGS:S 1497 (GI serial number); marks on straps.
