Great Old West 1870s - 1880s Special Detective "Stock" Oval Badge for Under Lapel Wear

This is a cool old "stock" oval badge with the scarce title of "Special Detective". The badge dates from the 1870's - 1880's and is of a type that could have been worn anywhere in the country, even the Old West by a Plainclothes Detective. The lettering is accentuated with finely engraved shadowing and "spikes" at the top of the each letter in the word DETECTIVE.

Approximately 1-1/4" in height and 1-11/16" in length.

Nickel-plated nickel.

Horizontal safety-style pin with no saddle.
