ARTIFACT:

This is a Great Old 1870's - 1880's New Britain Connecticut Police Badge. This unique shield-shaped badge is considered the First Issue badge of the New Britain Connecticut Police Department. 


The City, and the Police Department, were founded in 187I am not certain how long this 1st issue badge type was worn, but I would assume at least 20 years or so, as I would expect this badge to have actually been manufactured in the 1880's based on the large heavy-duty T pin. 

VINTAGE:

1870's - 1880's.

SIZE:

Approximately 2-5/16" in height x 2" in width.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Nickel plated nickel.

ATTACHMENT:

Vertical T pin with tongue type C catch.
