ARTIFACT:
This is a great wooden cigarette case from the Japanese Occupation Period. The case opens by sliding one end open, but if the "secret lever" on the opposite end is not released at the same time, the case does not open all the way and appears to be empty. The top of the case shows a B-29 Bomber flying around Mount Fuji, and on the reverse is a rose. Both images are bordered by a small checkerboard pattern.

Circa late 1940s.
SIZE:
Approximately 3-11/16" in height and 4-1/8" in width and 13/16" in thickness.

Wood with painted details.
