ARTIFACT: This is a large circa 1942 celluloid NYA Defense Worker badge for the National Youth Administration (NYA), established under Franklin Roosevelt's New Deal. The NYA provided job training and camps to qualified American male and female citizens ages 16 to 25 from 1935 until 1943. The war caused the NYA to shift to having a Defense Program oriented goal over time. The badge is red, white and blue.

VINTAGE: Circa 1942.

SIZE: Approximately 2-3/16" in diameter.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Celluloid wrapped tin.

ATTACHMENT: Horizontal pin with opening in backplate serving as catch.

MARKINGS: None.

ITEM NOTES: This is from a WWII homefront collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. MBJX14 LFEX6/14

CONDITION: 7- (Very Fine-): The badge has some light abrasions and a few minor cracks in the surface.
