This is a great Australian-made United States Army Air Forces P-38 trench art ashtray from World War II.
The base is a British or Australian shell dated 1942 (hard to read).
The plane will "fly" in a circle but care must be taken since it only rests on top of the bullet using a very small pin.
VINTAGE:
Circa World War II.
SIZE:Approximately 5-1/2" in height and 2-3/4" in diameter (at widest part of base).
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Nickel Plated brass.
ATTACHMENT:Plane rests on top of bullet using small pin.
MARKINGS:AG/C F65 01 442 40 M/M II.
