ARTIFACT:

Great 1950's Frank's Riders Harley Davidson pin-up matchbook from Portsmouth, NH. Some of the original matches remain intact, unstruck and the matchbook reads: THE HOME OF FRANK'S RIDERS 121 MAPLEWOOD AVE. PORTSMOUTH, N.H. Tel. Geneva 6-3704 – COMPLIMENTS OF FRANK MORRIS" and the opposite side features a pin-up illustration done by the famous Gil Elvgren, the pin-up is wearing a two piece that she is tempting to remove and to the left side of her legs it reads: "TO BE – OR NOT TO BE!" The inside of the top flap reads: "HARLEY DAVIDSON MOTORCYCLES – HUNTING AND FISHING LICENSES – GUNS – AMMUNITION – FISHING TACKLE – JENNEY GAS & OIL". The matchbook was printed by Mercury Allied Printing in Zanesville, Ohio and features a union label stamp.

MARKINGS:

"MERCURY ALLIED PRINTING UNION LABEL ZANESVILLE, O" there was likely an 'H' also, but it has rubbed off the corner.

CONDITION:

8- (Very Fine—Excellent): The match book shows only light wear, many of the original matches remain intact and unstruck, the printing color is wonderful and there are no rips or tears, excellent condition!
