Description
Great 1890's - early 1900's 'Old West' Deputy Sheriff circle star badge in the "Texas" style. The badge's size and lettering are reminiscent of a Texas Ranger badge of the period and this example was most likely worn in Texas. The surrounding circle reads: "DEPUTY SHERIFF" in nicely serifed letters.
These badges came out of an old collection put together by a collector from Kansas, now deceased. As the bulk of his collection was Kansas and Colorado, it can be safely assumed that these badges were indeed worn in the Old West of their particular vintage, although I do not know exactly where any were used or collected.
