Great 1880s-1890s New York State Licensed Detective Badge in Nickel

This is a circa 1880s-1890s New York State licensed detective badge made of nickel. The badge shows the version of the state's seal that New York used through 1883, but badges themselves were still made with the older seal for at least a decade or so after the new seal was adopted. The badge is numbered 229 and came to us along with a similar badge in gilt brass that is sold separately.

Circa 1880s-1890s.

Approximately 2-7/8" in height and 1-3/4" in width.

Nickel, enamel.
