ARTIFACT:
Gorgeous, late 1940's United States Army 511th Airborne Oval. The center features an embroidered wing surrounded by a medium, bright green border and a medium white border variant and is embroidered on blue Japanese silk, backed with twill. After the Japanese surrender, the 511th was stationed in Morioka, Japan during the start of the occupation of Iwate and Aomori Prefectures and remained there until 1949 when the battalions strategically departed for the United States.
