This is a Fabulous 1920's Los Angeles County California Deputy Sheriff Road Dept Badge # 53 by Chipron.
This badge is a beauty. Mid-late 20's, in great condition.
These were the deputies who guarded the chain gangs working on the roads.
I love this Chipron maker mark: hard to tell from the image, but the letters are actually raised, not stamped in.
1920's.
SIZE:Approximately 2-1/2" in height x 2-3/16" in width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Gilt Brass with painted lettering.
ATTACHMENT:Vertical kick pin with tongue-type 'C' catch.
