Fabulous 1912 Brown University Brownie Football Badge in Gilt Silver by Bailey Banks & Biddle

Fabulous 1912, dated Brown University Brownie Football Badge. Engraving on back shows original owners initials "LFB", badge is gilt sterling silver with red enamel and is made by Bailey, Banks & Biddle.

We are not certain if this was an early Mascot alternative to Bruno the Brown Bear, which dates back to 1904, or just a play on the Brown name, but it was definitely at least quasi-official, having been manufactured by the esteemed Philadelphia jewelry firm of Bailey, Banks & Biddle

Circa 1912.

1 1/8" in height x 3/8" in width.

Enameled & gilt silver.

Vertical pin with drop in locking clasp.

B. B. & B. SILVER and engraved "LFB 1912".

8+ (Excellent): Badge shows extremely light surface wear, nearly all the enameled details remain intact, even lovely patina.
