ARTIFACT:
This is a fabulous group of three Austrian military officer's helmets in miniature, all under three inches in height. The helmets are made in many rich materials. One is spiked, a style usually associated with the army, one is for the hussar, or cavalry, and one is for the infantry. The spiked helmet is in painted bronze and proudly bears a small double eagle insignia. The hussar helmet sports a horse hair plume, a chain, and finely wrought details to the brass. The infantry helmet is in a looped faux (or possibly real?) fur trimmed with velvet and a plume. fully functional leather chin strap and buckle.
VINTAGE:
Circa 1890s.
SIZE:
Spire helmet: approximately 2" in width and 2-1/2" in height and 2-3/4" in depth; hussar helmet: approximately 2" in width and 2" in height and 2-1/4" in depth; infantry helmet: approximately 2-1/2" in diameter and 2-7/8" in height (including plume).
MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION:
Spire helmet: painted and gold-plated brass, cardboard liner, paper; hussar helmet: gold-plated brass, leather, paper and cloth details, horse hair, metal chain; infantry helmet: faux fur (possibly animal fur), velvet, horsehair, silk, leather, gold-plated brass, bullion wire.

CONDITION:
8- (Very Fine-Excellent): The helmets are in various conditions but overall are in very fine to excellent condition. The spired helmet has some light tarnish and only a few very small specks of wear to the paint. The hussar helmet has a small area of minor oxidation and some limited spots of wear along the edge of the paper liner. The infantry helmet has only some tarnishing to the bullion wire.
