ARTIFACT: This is an extremely rare Northwest Air Service (NAS) pilot wing used only in 1928. The wing reads NAS SEATTLE at center.

This is extremely rare and the very last wing of a very early US Air Line. The line started as Seattle-Victoria Air Mail Line in 1919.
At some point after that the name was changed to Hubbard Air Transport.
And then, in early 1928 the name was changed to Northwest Air Service. Later in the year, the line was sold, which pinpoints this wing at 1928.
Little is known about this airline's Wings and Badges, but, like many early Air Lines, it is probable that the wing changed color to denote rank:
Gold For Pilot
Silver for Co-Pilot
Bronze for First Officer

VINTAGE: Circa 1928.

SIZE: 9/16" height and 2-15/16" width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Gold-plated brass with blue enamel lettering.

ATTACHMENT: Horizontal pin with drop-in locking catch.

MARKINGS: N/A.

ITEM NOTES: This is from a civil aviation collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. MBDBX06 LCHJJX4/10 SCEJJX1/12

CONDITION: 8- (Very Fine-Excellent): Wing shows some light wear and some of the enamel has worn off of the letter "N".

GUARANTEE: As with all my artifacts, this piece is guaranteed to be original, as described.
