ARTIFACT: This is an extremely rare member pilot wing for Hanacky Aeroklub Olomouc (HAO), a pre-WWII Czech aero club and pilot school based in Olomouc, historic capital of the Hana region in the present Czech Republic. Twenty-nine of the pilots that trained here in the 1930s went abroad after the occupation of Czechoslovakia to fight against the Nazis. The wing shows an enameled triangle which looks like a reversed Czechoslovakian flag pennant and reads HAO at the top. It is numbered 53 on reverse. HAO is still in existence today.

VINTAGE: Circa 1930s.

SIZE: Approximately 1-1/16" in height and 2-7/8" in width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Plated and enameled brass.

ATTACHMENT: Horizontal pin with C catch on plate.

MARKINGS: 53

ITEM NOTES: This is from a 1930s foreign aviation collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. VHJX12 LACGEX6/14 SAJJJX9/15

CONDITION: 8- (Very Fine-Excellent): The wing has only some light wear and tarnish; all enamel is intact except for one very tiny sliver.

GUARANTEE: As with all my artifacts, this piece is guaranteed to be original, as described.
