Description

ARTIFACT:

This is a rare World War II United States Marine Corps jacket patch for VMF-113 (Fighter Squadron 113), also known as the "Whistling Devils". During World War II the squadron fought at the Marshall Islands and also served at Okinawa as part of the 4th Base Defense Air Wing. The Disney-designed patch shows Death outfitted with boxing gloves flying an F4U Corsair.

Circa World War II.

SIZE:

Approximately: Originally round, but slightly misshapen from duty wear: 4-7/8" in height x 4-3/4" in width.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Felt embroidered in cotton/silk threads, mesh backing.

ATTACHMENT:

To be sewn on.
