The Mexican Border Service was active during the Mexican Revolution, not World War I. The Mexican Border Service Medal was awarded to military service members who served on the U.S.-Mexico border between January 1, 1916, and April 6, 191The service was part of the Pancho Villa Expedition, a military operation against Francisco "Pancho" Villa's paramilitary forces.
