This is an Extremely Rare circa 1900 Birmingham Alabama Police Detective Badge # 14. As is typical for this time-period in the South (and other parts of the county), this Detective Badge is a smaller size for wallet carry or rare plain clothes lapel wear.

Nickel-plated nickel with painted lettering.
