Extremely rare large jacket patch of Civilian Conservation Corps Company # 1171 Savoy Mountain North Adams, Massachusetts. Each camp was established in areas where conservation work was to be performed. Savoy Mountain State Forest was created from abandoned farmland purchased by the state. During the 1930's CCC Co. 1171 reforested the land (now considered an old growth forest), built concrete dams and replaced older ones, and built a picnic area. The jacket patch is made of silkscreened flocked black cloth and reads: "SAVOY LITTLE AMERICA CCC. CO 1171" and the center of the patch features a skull and crossbones.
Approximately 6" x 4 ½"
