Description

ARTIFACT:

This is a circa early World War II United States Navy Seabees shield badge. The "Seabees" was the nickname for members of USN Construction Battalions. The badge is the type worn by Seabees serving with United States Marine Corps units. It reads CONSTRUIMUS BATUIMIS (We build, we fight) U.S.N. beneath the figure of a laboring soldier in relief. The badge has a maker mark on reverse.

VINTAGE:

Circa early World War II.

SIZE:

Approximately 1-1/4" in height and 1" in width.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Bronze.

ATTACHMENT:

Vertical pin with come-under locking swivel catch.

MARKINGS:

MACO (Metallic Arts Company) ROCH N.Y.
