This is an early horse thief detective type badge for the Lincoln, Indiana Detective Association that is numbered 1 This association was known for its anti-black stance and KKK tendencies. The badge shows a scene at center of a person pursuing a buffalo.
VINTAGE:Circa 1910s-1920s.
SIZE:2-15/16" height and 2-1/4" width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Nickel-plated brass with painted lettering.
ATTACHMENT:Vertical safety-style pin with "C" catch and saddle.

CONDITION:7 (Very Fine): Badge shows moderate wear, a small area of oxidation and most of the lettering is gone.
