ARTIFACT: This is an early 1970s United States Air Force experimental flight jacket named to Major General C. A. Pattillo in excellent condition. As general, Pattillo completed 131 World War II missions before being shot down and captured by the Germans. He was an ace (as was his brother), having seven kills, including a ME-262. His P-51 was called Sweet & Lovely and is pictured above (courtesy of www.chevelles.com).

VINTAGE: Circa early 1970s.

SIZE: Size 40R. Approximately 23 1/2" from armpit to armpit; 27 1/2" length from collar to hem (on reverse); 24" from shoulder seam to cuff; 20" between shoulders.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Cotton/polyester, nylon lining, elasticized cotton/polyester cuffs and neck/waistband; metal fasteners.

ATTACHMENT: Zipper, snaps.

MARKINGS: EXPERIMENTAL TEST SAMPLE CLOTHING BRANCH DATE 2-A2-73 SUB-ORDER TYPE FLIGHT JACKET SIZE 40R M/G C.A. PATTILLO on label; RAU FASTN CO. PROV. on snap; SCOVILL CONMAR U.S.A. on zipper.
