ARTIFACT:

This is a circa early 1910s "Boston pin" penmanship award lapel pin from Boston, Massachusetts schools. The pin was given to students who had completed one hundred penmanship drills. For completion of only 50 drills a "Boston button" incentive would be given out and for 172 drills a certificate was bestowed upon the pupil. The pin is by The Boston Regalia Company and shows the City Seal at its center.

VINTAGE:

Circa early 1910s.

SIZE:

Approximately 5/8" in diameter.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Gilt brass with enamel.

ATTACHMENT:

Vertical pin with C catch.

MARKINGS:

THE BOSTON REGALIA CO. BOSTON MASS.

8 (Excellent-): The pin shows hardly any wear and light tarnish on reverse.
