Description

ARTIFACT:

This is a small but beautiful Civil War era Special Police badge from Concord, New Hampshire and a key fob belonging to the original owner of the badge (E.L. Smith). The badge is in coin silver, made from a pre-1829 United States quarter dollar. The badge has some decorative touches and the lettering is filled with jeweler's black. The fob is in nickel and lists Smith's place of residence as 7 Harrison Street in the capital city.

VINTAGE:

Circa Civil War (1861-1865).

SIZE:

Badge: approximately 1" in diameter; key fob: 1" by 7/8".

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Badge: coin silver with jeweler's black; fob: nickel.

ATTACHMENT:

Badge: horizontal T-style pin with C catch; fob: hole.

MARKINGS:

None.
