This is a Civil War soldier's package envelope forwarded by the Adams Express Company of City Point, Virginia. The envelope containing $50 was for Mrs. J. V. Covert, sent to her presumably by her husband (J. V. Covert). The envelope folds over from the top and was opened on one side in order to preserve the five seals applied to the back.
VINTAGE:Circa Civil War.
SIZE:3-11/16" height and 8-1/8" width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Printed paper with wax seals.

CONDITION:8- (Very Fine-Excellent): Envelope has spots of slight discoloration and slight creasing but is not torn at all.
