Description
This is a Civil War-era Massachusetts Minuteman medal belonging to Private Walter B. Berry. Private Berry served with the Company L 6th Regiment Massachusetts Volunteer Militia on a three month campaign and then also in Company D 33rd Massachusetts Volunteer Militia for three years in Stoneham, Massachusetts. Front of medal bar reads MASSACHUSETTS MINUTE MEN 1861 and shows a Native American at center. The reverse of the medal reads THE COMMONWEALTH OF MASSACHUSETTS TO THE MEMBERS OF THE MASSACHUSETTS VOLUNTEER MILITIA WHO WERE MUSTERED INTO THE UNITED STATES SERVICE IN RESPONSE RO PRESIDENT LINCOLN'S FIRST CALL FOR TROOPS APRIL 15, 1861.
VINTAGE:Circa Civil War.
