ARTIFACT:
This is a circa 1945 pilot wing from Trans World Airlines, which began in 1930 when Transcontinental Air Transport merged with Western Air Express. The wing is made from wartime materials such as plated white metal. It has fine detailing on the feathers and a Native American man's head in profile at center.
VINTAGE:
Circa 1945.
SIZE:
Approximately 1-1/16" height and 3-3/4" width.
MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION:
Plated white metal, steel, brass nuts.
ATTACHMENT:
Two screw posts with double disc backings; bar.
MARKINGS:
Boomerang-shaped maker's mark on reverse of wing.
