ARTIFACT:
Wonderful circa 1900s - 1910s Special Deputy United States Marshal Badge. The six-point, star-shaped badge reads: "SPECIAL DEPUTY U.S. MARSHAL" in stamped letters with painted details. George Washington named the first 13 U.S. Marshals in 1789, it is the oldest federal law enforcement agency and are well known for keeping law and order in the "Old West". The agency celebrated its 225th anniversary in 2014.
VINTAGE:
Circa 1900's - 1910's.
SIZE:
Approximately 2 3/8" in height x 2 3/8" in width.
MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION:
Nickel plated nickel with painted lettering.
ATTACHMENT:
Vertical safety style pin with 'C' catch.
