ARTIFACT: Circa 1900 small Chinese "red pill" opium pipe. This example has a bamboo stem and brass bowl with beautiful blue glass mouth piece made to resemble jasper. This type of pipe was often used to smoke 'hong wan' or 'red pills' – a potent combination of heroin or morphine that hit the streets after the 1906 opium smoking Prohibition in China.

VINTAGE: Circa 1900

SIZE: Approximately 6-5/8" in length; 1/4" in diameter; Bowl: 7/8" x 1/2"

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Bamboo, glass, brass

CONDITION: 7 (Very Fine): The pipe shows minor to moderate wear, the glass mouth piece is removable, brass shows overall handsome patina.
