Description
This is a beautiful circa 1900 Greek Silver Cross of the Order of the Redeemer (aka Order of the Savior), the most auspicious and oldest award granted by Greece since its independence in 182The award can be bestowed on Greek citizens and foreigners alike, who serve the Hellenic state in some way. The enameled and wreathed cross, which has an image of Jesus at its center, hangs from a crown and above that, a pale aqua blue and white ribbon. In times of Republican rule, the cross would have been absent.
VINTAGE:Circa 1900.
SIZE:Approximately 4-1/4" in height and 1-3/8" in width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Silver, enamel, silk.
ATTACHMENT:Ribbon, suspension ring.
MARKINGS:None visible.

CONDITION:7 (Very Fine): The medal has some light wear and tarnish with a few small spots of enamel missing.
