ARTIFACT: This is a circa 1870s Dutch Model 1852 jaeger officer sword with a curved blade fullered on both sides. The blade has only some minor wear, and one side is marked "Yzerhower". The handle is made of horn and wrapped with wire. The sword was made by August & Albert Schnitzler of Solingen and has the company's maker mark on one side of the ricasso and star mark on the reverse. It comes with its original scabbard.

VINTAGE: Circa 1870s.

SIZE: Sword: approximately 36-1/4" in length and 4" in width (at widest point); blade only: 30" in length by 1-1/8" in width (at widest point); scabbard only: 31-1/8" by 1-3/4".

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Steel, plated brass, horn, silver wire.

ATTACHMENT: Ring on scabbard.

MARKINGS: Aug & Alb Schnitzler Solingen. on one side of blade; star maker mark on reverse.

CONDITION: 7+ (Very Fine+): The sword shows only light wear; minor dings to scabbard.
