ARTIFACT: This is a circa 1900 Mexican policia (police) badge for Cananea, Sonoma, and is a unique piece of history. The badge was probably worn during the June 1906 Greene Construction copper mine strike where the local policia and Arizona Rangers fought side by side against the angry mob. The badge shows an eagle with a serpent and a cactus and is numbered 13.

VINTAGE: Circa 1900.

SIZE: Approximately 2-9/16" in height and 1-11/16" in width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Plated brass with painted lettering.

ATTACHMENT: Vertical safety pin (original pin replaced around 1910s).

MARKINGS: L.A.(?-hard to read) STAMP CO. mark.

ITEM NOTES: This is from a police badge collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. VAJJXL10 LAHJJX1/12 SAJJX9/14

CONDITION: 7 (Very Fine): The badge shows some light to medium wear and tarnish and small areas of the paint have worn away.
