ARTIFACT:
This is a Belleek Daisy pattern tall vase with their 8th mark, dating it to 1993-1996. Belleek is an Irish company started by entrepreneur and philanthropist John Caldwell Bloomfield in 1858. He found that the soil of the estate he inherited right after the Potato Famine was rich in pottery-making materials, so he decided to start on this venture in order to employ his hard-hit tenants. He even had the railway diverted to his home of Belleek for importation and exportation purposes. The vase is in white biscuit porcelain and is adorned by tall daisies with their stems and leaves in relief and has small hand-painted shamrocks overlaying the design.
