This is an unidentified bullion wing. It possibly dates from the Civil War or Mexican War, and is probably Marine Corps or Navy related. It reads US at the top and shows an eagle with its head lower than its wings sailing above a horizontal anchor.
VINTAGE:Circa possibly Civil or Mexican War.
SIZE:Approximately 2" height and 3-1/4" in width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Wool embroidered in bullion and cotton/silk threads, mesh backing.
ITEM NOTES:This is from an unidentified collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. Item will not be sold until it is identified. RJX97 LX2/11
CONDITION:5- (Very Good+): The wing shows heavy wear and moderate tarnish with about 20% of the wool missing.
