Description
This is a beautiful World War II VF-89 USS Antietam CV-36 patch. The Antietam served in the Yellow Sea conducting surveillance missions during WWII in China during its civil war. She earned her battle stars in the Korean War and her air groups flew over 6,000 sorties to assist the United Nations during North Korea's aggression. In December 1952, Antietam emerged from the New York shipyard as the world's first carrier with a true angled flight deck and she was re-designated as an attack aircraft carrier. The patch is bordered with a Navy wing below and five gold stars along top, and reads: Pied Pipers".
