ARTIFACT: This is a beautiful painting by Jack D. Hunter, a World War II veteran famous for penning the 1964 novel "The Blue Max". Serving in counter-intelligence because of blindness to the colors red and green, Hunter carried out an operation that secured the arrest of over 1,000 Nazis and earned him the Bronze Star. The scene captured in the painting is of two United States Army Air Corps flying between a flying school in Pecos (Texas) to Gibbs Field.

VINTAGE: Circa World War II.

SIZE: Approximately 18-7/8" in height by 24" in width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Paper, glass, wood, metal, cellophane sleeve.

ATTACHMENT: Wire, two eye hooks.

MARKINGS: HUNTER.
