Description

ARTIFACT:

This is a beautiful World War II temporary factory access badge for Grumman Aircraft Engineering Company of Bethpage, New York. Grumman was established in 1929 and merged with Northrop Corporation in 199The badge is in celluloid and is numbered 000, with a color company logo at the center. It was made by Whitehead & Hoag of Newark, New Jersey.

VINTAGE:

Circa World War II.

SIZE:

Approximately 1-1/2" in height and 2-3/16" in width.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Celluloid-wrapped tin.

ATTACHMENT:

Vertical safety-style pin with square saddle.

MARKINGS:

W&H (Whitehead & Hoag) CO. NEWARK N.J. PAT. OCT. 1 1929.
