ARTIFACT:
This is a beautiful jeweler-made World War I Royal Naval Air Service (RNAS) sweetheart pin in gold on sterling silver. A branch of the Royal Navy from July 1914 until April 1918, the RNAS then joined forces with the Royal Flying Corps to become the pioneering Royal Air Force. The pin is a crowned and finely detailed eagle above the letters RNAS and has a jeweler mark on the reverse.
VINTAGE:
Circa WWI.
SIZE:
Approximately 1/2" in height and 1-5/16" in width.
MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION:
Gold on sterling silver.
ATTACHMENT:
Horizontal T-style pin with C catch.
MARKINGS:
A.BROS. jeweler's mark; STERLING.
